The New Year and Month Numero Dos!

Cars, rockets, planes and trains, these are just a few of my favorite things, boats and tractors are great it's true, especially for a little boy who's two... MONTHS!

We rang in 2009 with some happy and sad moments. Nani and Nana Kauldher were happy because they got to babysit while Mommy and Daddy went to a movie but we were all sad the next day as Daddy left for Vancouver. Shortly after, Amma and Papa Ray left for Texas. I was sad to see them go, but Mommy and I spent a few evenings with them before they left! They call every few days to see how I am doing.

Daddy is fairly settled in Vancouver and has found us a place. We are going to rent a house in Burnaby, and there is extra room for all my friends- so come visit! Mommy, Einstein and I will join him on February 3rd. Our tickets are booked and we are almost packed! I can't wait to see Daddy and show him how big I am and all the fun stuff I do!

Currently, my favorite things to do are putting my fist in my mouth,

smile and listen to music.... well besides sleeping, eating and snuggling with Mommy. I am being very spolied in Winnipeg by Nani, Nana and Uncle Leon. Someone is always checking on me, kissing me or cuddling! Nani and Nana even offer to feed me at 2:30 am, I guess that means that Mommy is being spoiled as well... :)

I also enjoy my baths, I love the water and splashing around! I love wearing my giraffe robe after my bath, it is so cozy (Thanks Uncle Rob and Auntie Rachael)

In my old age of two months, I have gotten very political! I watched Mr. Obama become my new president (since I am still American). I feel honored that I was born in a year of such great change.

I am looking forward to seeing all the change (hopefully for the good) in my lifetime.

Life is good, and looking forward to my new adventure in Vancouver. My stats are currently 12 lbs 7 oz and 24 3/4 inches. I am a growing boy!

I send my love and kisses to all!

I am over a month old... and what a month it has been!!!

Hi Everyone!
Can you believe I am over a month? So many things have happened, but I will mention a few of the highlights...

I would say that Mommy, Daddy and Einstein are slowly adjusting to life with me around. Their clothes are sometimes covered with my spit up and their conversations are now centered on discussing when last I fed, if I burped and they get really excited when I poop! I think I am turning them into good parents.. What do you think?

Over the last month I have enjoyed lots of visit to my home in Grand Forks... Let's see- Uncle Chuckie and Ashley, Aunties Christie, Jessica, Nikki and Candace (Mommy and Daddy's friends from Winnipeg)as well as a visit from Auntie Jenelle and Maori from Calgary for 3 days! Auntie Jenelle and Maori stayed with us in our apartment and we did lots of fun things like go to Target and the mall. We even got our pictures taken with Santa! Maori is one of my favourite "cousins", she is now two and we share the same birthday... November 18th! She got to hold me on her lap while she was over and loved to hold my hand. One of the best things Maori and I did together was bundle up in our warmest clothes and go to the dog park with Einstein and play in the snow. Mommy had me in my snowsuit in my baby bjorn carrier under her jacket- I was toasty and had a blast!

Of course my grandparents Nani and Nana (Kauldher) and Amma and Popa Ray (Gawryluk) and Uncle Leon came by to see me a couple times this month. I was spoiled with lots of hugs and kisses from each of them...

Uncle Andy come all the way from South Dakota to visit me last weekend. It was cool to meet my namesake- Mommy and Daddy named me Andrew, my middle name, after him. He is really funny as he made lots of funny faces at me. I hope I can live up to the name and be just as funny as he is! He tried to teach me how to play xbox, but I think we will have to wait a few more years!

We also all went to a Sioux (University of North Dakota's team) hockey game while Uncle Andy was here! I sat behind the penalty box... right behind the glass and slept through the WHOLE game, even the buzzers, shouting and cheering. It was an exciting game the Sioux won 5-3! We cheered on my Uncle Ryan Martens #8, it was fun to see him in action.

This past weekend I also met my Uncle Ryan and Auntie Jodie (Gawryluk). I had lots of fun with them. I spent a whole THREE hours lying in Uncle Ryan's arms... Good thing he is soo strong because I get heavy after a while.

This weekend also was a big event for Mommy and Daddy. They had lots of people over to help them pack up our entire apartment in Grand Forks into a BIG U-Haul truck. This U-Haul is going to Winnipeg and being loaded onto a moving van to.... VANCOUVER!!! Daddy got a post-doc position at the University of British Columbia. He is going to work at the Children's Hospital studying Bi-Polar Disorder. I am sooo excited to move there since I have 5 cousins out there and 1 more on the way! Also my Great- Grandpa Kauldher lives pretty close by, so I am looking forward to meeting him. Daddy tells me that we will be out there for 3 years... That seems like such a long time! Daddy is heading out right away since he starts on the 5th. Mommy and I will head out in a month or so. Once we are settled, my big brother Einstein will be flown out.

Even with the move to Winnipeg from Grand Forks, Santa still found me! I was soo spolied! I attended my first Gawryluk Christmas Eve. I was told it is an annual event and a traditional Ukrainian meal is served! I can't wait until next year when I can eat the perogies! The other days I spent going between my grandparents' houses. I also had a few good visits with my Long-Amma (my great grandma)and she thinks I am just too cute! :)
Well, like I said these are the highlights from the past month..There was a lot of stuff going on, so I apologize that this post is so lengthy.

Ohh....Mommy said I should update you also on what I am doing developmentally too, not just my social life. I am about 10 pounds 24 inches now. I am lifting my head, cooing and gurgling, smiling (its not gas), laughing and focusing on objects. I love listening to my Baby Einstein CD's, swinging my hands in front of my face and stretching... In the last 2 days I have discovered my tongue and now stick it out affectionately to anyone I see!

Wishing you a fantastic holiday.
Love, Kailas

Einstein and Some More Pictures

We forgot to mention how Einstein is handling his new brother... He has been the perfect "big brother"! He runs to his cradle everytime Kailas makes a peep and looks back at us as if to say "come on... he is doing something! " He also guards Kailas whereever he is- he has to be by his side at all times. We have both noticed how much Einstein has matured!

Here are some pictures of our time with Kailas over the past 2 weeks. So, enjoy and turn up your speakers! This is the song that plays in my head everytime I sit and relax with Kailas... Only if I had the voice to sing it to him!

Going Home!

The Gawryluk family left Altru Hospital on Thursday November 20th around dinner time to bring Kailas home to the apartment for the first time. We had a little experience installing the car seat for the first time, apparently the latch system does not directly connect to the interior of the car! So we had to use a seatbelt to buckle Kailas' seat for his first ride. He has been quite the perfect traveler thus far, with multiple trips to Target, the mall, and even class with Mommie.

We also had some setup and organization to quickly finish beforehand since he arrived a couple weeks earlier than we were expecting. Good thing, Uncle Leon and Nana and Papa Ray were around to help setup the cradle (crafted with love from Great Uncle Wayne in NS)! All the gifts we have received have been incredibly helpful throughout our new adventure. Thanks to all! Plus his Nani and Amma came to help around the home over the first week.

Throughout the past couple weeks he has done his fair share of sleeping and eating, he has seen the doctor once and all is well. We are both loving parenthood and couldn't ask for a better baby (so far!). Oh and he is wondering why no one has emailed him yet. Thanks to everyone who has called, emailed and/or visited! laters

Introducing Baby Garlic!

On Tuesday November 18th at 10:03 AM, Kailas Andrew Singh Gawryluk entered our world at Altru hospital in Grand Forks, ND. He weighed 8 lbs and 13 ounces at a length of 22 3/4 ". Delivery went well for Sangeeta and she is recovering quickly. Kailas is very healthy and spends his days sleeping and eating; he is anxiously awaiting meeting everyone!

What's in a name?
If you are wondering where we got his name from, we accidentally came across his name while perusing the net. The name is of Sanskrit (Indian) origin and is the paradise for the god Shiva.

For anyone interested in sending him messages, his email account is kgawryluk@gmail.com
